The Department of Anesthesiology
is led by its newly appointed Chairman, Dr. Christopher Chang. Dr. Chang is
especially proud of the partnership between Bronx-Lebanon and North American
Partners in Anesthesia, (NAPA), the largest single practice anesthesia management
company in the United States. “Through this partnership, we are providing
the hospital and community with excellent medical care,” stated Dr. Chang.

Patient safety and value generation
are paramount to the department and Bronx-Lebanon. NAPA offers efficient, cost
effective and quality healthcare, while yielding optimal perioperative outcomes. “Our
program improvements were visible shortly after we began providing general anesthesia
services for the OR Suite, as evidenced by the modification of patient flow,
including operational dynamics,” stated Dr. Chang.

Members of Dr. Chang’s team
offer a diverse array of leading techniques in regional anesthesiology, providing
a comprehensive nerve block and acute pain service.
“What we bring to
Bronx-Lebanon is a network of physicians that utilize their collective and extensive
experience in patient care and who work well interdepartmentally to meet the
needs of the OR staff. We know that we are an integral part of a major teaching
hospital, and that is a strong motivating factor for us, “stated Dr. Chang.
Another Department of Anesthesiology endeavor involves the process of revamping
the pre-surgical testing unit. Working with nursing leadership, the department
is developing an effective and comprehensive goal directed pre surgical testing
model. It will enhance the level of care provided to the community.
Risk stratification
and preparation for surgery are fundamental to managing an operating room suite
and to patient care. Moreover, it gives the anesthesiologist and surgical care
team a window as to what the needs of the patient will be later in the operative
course. |
