As BronxCare’s new Director of Labor Relations, Dahlia Jeffers is taking on the wide-ranging responsibilities associated with employee relations and encompassing performance management, compliance, and benefits, among other key roles. Ms. Jeffers looks forward to applying her extensive experience in the human resources feld to BronxCare’s benefit. “My continuing goal will be to maximize employee satisfaction and resolve, when necessary, labor-related problems in a constructive and productive manner,” stated Ms. Jeffers. She will also direct her efforts to helping managers enhance and reinforce their communication skills for their respective areas of responsibility.
Prior to joining BronxCare, Ms. Jeffers was the Director of Human Resources at Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center. During her six years at Brookdale, Ms. Jeffers achieved an exemplary record of accomplishments in the labor management, compliance, recruitment, and training areas.
Ms. Jeffers also previously served in leadership positions as Human Resources Manager at Long Island Jewish Medical Center (now Northwell Health System) and in other capacities at the Family & Youth Services Organization and Bankers Trust. It was at Bankers Trust where she first became interested in advancing her career in the human resources field. “My experiences at the bank opened my eyes to how employers and employees can productively interlock on the job with morale improvement and successful results achieved,” stated Ms. Jeffers.
In terms of her educational background, Ms. Jeffers graduated from New York Institute of Technology, receiving a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. She then earned her Master’s degree in Sociology from the City College of New York, which was then followed by advanced studies in labor relations at Cornell University.
When Ms. Jeffers is away from the work environment, she enjoys “being out with nature and any activity involving the beach and water.” She also lives in the Bronx, close to BronxCare, and has a son that works in the security field. Ms. Jeffers has always believed that “happy employees make happy patients,” and at BronxCare, she is confident in her ability to achieve this goal.
