Christina Canellos, O.D.

Christina Canellos, O.D.

Ocular Disease/Primary Care Optometry Resident

Dr. Christina Canellos was born and raised in New York. Dr. Canellos received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Biological Sciences from Binghamton University. She then earned a Doctor of Optometry degree with a concentration in advanced cornea and contact lenses at SUNY College of Optometry. During her time there, she was actively involved in Student Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity (SVOSH) and was a member of the Beta Sigma Kappa International Optometric Honor Society. Dr. Canellos received awards for academic excellence and clinical proficiency in ocular disease and contact lenses, as well as for services to underserved communities. She also completed her clinical training at Bellevue NYC Health + Hospitals, SUNY College of Optometry University Eye Center, Gentile Retina Ophthalmology Group Practice, and the Cornea and Contact Lens Clinic at the SUNY University Eye Center. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, running, and reading.

Xiao Chen, O.D.

Xiao Chen, O.D.

Ocular Disease/Primary Care Optometry Resident

Dr. Xiao Tong Chen was raised in Queens, New York, and graduated with honors from Cornell University, receiving a Bachelor of Science in Nutritional Sciences. She then went on to earn Doctor of Optometry and Master of Science in Vision Science degrees from the State University of New York (SUNY) College of Optometry. During her time at SUNY, Dr. Chen was actively involved in the Beta Sigma Kappa International Optometric Honor Society, the Student American Academy of Optometry (SAAO), the Asian Culture Optometric Student Association (ACOSA), and the College Peer Mentorship program. She also contributed to clinical research and presented her work at major conferences including the American Academy of Optometry and the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO) Annual Meetings. Dr. Chen completed her clinical training at Downtown Eyecare, Eye Centers of South Florida, Bellevue Hospital, and SUNY University Eye Center. Outside of her professional work, Dr. Chen enjoys traveling, reading mystery novels, exploring the American Museum of Natural History, and discovering new restaurants.

Simrit Kang, O.D.

Simrit Kang, O.D.

Ocular Disease/Primary Care Optometry Resident

Dr. Simrit Kang was born and raised in Surrey, Canada. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Health Sciences from Simon Fraser University and then pursued a Doctor of Optometry degree at Midwestern University Arizona College of Optometry. Dr. Kang completed her clinical training at the Midwestern University Eye Institute, Chickasaw Nation Department of Health, Bowden Eye and Associates, and Family Eyecare Specialists. She also received a Certificate of Clinical Honors in recognition of her exemplary clinical externship performance. With a particular interest in diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, macular degeneration, and dry eye disease, Dr. Kang provides expert care for her patients. Outside of her professional endeavors, Dr. Kang enjoys traveling, exploring new restaurants, and spending time with her family and friends.

Kylie Donohue, O.D.

Kylie Donohue, O.D.

Pediatric Optometry/Ocular Disease Optometry Resident

Dr. Kylie Donohue was born and raised in northern New Jersey. Dr. Donohue earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Science-Business with a minor in Anthropology from the University of Notre Dame. She spent a year teaching 4th and 5th graders in the Chicago Public School District before pursuing her Doctor of Optometry degree at Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago. During her time at Illinois College of Optometry, she was a member of the Beta Sigma Kappa International Optometric Honor Society, Tomb & Key Honor Society, and the Gold Key International Optometric Honor Society. Dr. Donohue also provided didactic peer tutoring and academic coaching. She completed her clinical training at the Illinois Eye Institute, Glenview Vision Care, Sergeant Ernest I. “Boots" Thomas VA Clinic, and the University of Minnesota. In her free time, Dr. Donohue enjoys traveling, baking, and reading.
