BronxCare Health System

Stephanie Du

Director, Planning, Design, and Construction

As Director, Planning, Design, and Construction, Stephanie Du, AIA, ACHA, CCM, LEED AP, is taking on a pivotal role in building BronxCare’s future. In this capacity, she is responsible for overseeing the design and construction of BronxCare’s capital project portfolio. Ms. Du leads an internal team and collaborates with external design consultants, general contractors, vendors, and stakeholders from programming and planning to close-out phases, consistently ensuring that the scope of work is fully code compliant, aesthetically pleasing, cost effective, and satisfies stakeholders' expectations.

Since joining BronxCare in 2023, Ms. Du has overseen close to $50 million in projects involving bed expansions and behavioral health inpatient units, a specialty pharmacy, multiple imaging projects, and various outpatient practices. As a highly competent, detail-oriented, and quality-driven project leader, she takes pride in her work with BronxCare’s staff to expedite projects through to completion. Ms. Du has also brought industry best practices and optimized design and project management processes to BronxCare’s Construction and Renovation department, as well as built a library for finish materials/samples.

During her more than 25-year career, Ms. Du’s work efforts have included the design of major projects for leading architectural firms and as an owner’s representative for a pharmaceutical company and hospital, with a combined construction value of $950 million. She has a strong passion for health care and life science projects with profound social impacts. Ms. Du’s notable health care design projects in the New York metropolitan area include Mount Sinai Health System, the Veterans Administration, and Centers Health Care, as well as Brookdale Hospital, Burke Rehabilitation Hospital, Stony Brook University Hospital, and White Plains Hospital.

Originally from China, Ms. Du traces her work ethic, curiosity, grit, and conscience to the influence of her parents, a physicist and a pediatrician. Both of them provided her with a strong foundation and the discipline needed to advance herself. As a result, she was accepted into Xiamen University, graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture. Ms. Du then worked on high-rise mixed-use projects for a prominent architectural/engineering firm in Beijing. It was in Beijing where she met her husband, who later pursued a Doctorate in Mechanical Engineering in the United States, where both immigrated in 2000.

Ms. Du’s expertise and credentials in the architectural field are noteworthy. She is a member of the American College of Healthcare Architects, a highly selective organization with 500 health care architects nationwide. Additionally, she is a member of the American Institute of Architects, the country’s largest network of licensed architects. In 2023, she earned the Certified Construction Manager (CCM) credential to enhance her caliber in construction management. Ms. Du also holds LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification, reflecting her commitment to green building practices.

As she looks ahead, Ms. Du is confident she can help make a meaningful difference at BronxCare by firmly instilling and reinforcing a performance-driven culture encompassing teamwork and collaboration. “We will clearly keep BronxCare moving in the right direction by designing the projects that will shape its future success and serve patients and the community with state-of-the-art facilities,” stated Ms. Du.
