Endocrinology and Diabetes

The Endocrinology team cares for patients with thyroid, pituitary, adrenal, reproductive, lipid, obesity, and electrolyte disorders, as well as Type 1, Type 2, and gestational diabetes. During the past two decades, extensive research has fostered the development of new drugs and advanced technological devices to control and effectively monitor diabetes, including continuous glucose monitors and insulin pumps.

BronxCare’s Diabetes Center of Excellence (as designated by the National Committee for Quality Assurance) encompasses several outpatient clinical sites and provides education and support on diabetes self-management. As part of a United States Department of Agriculture grant, the department is collaborating with Harvest Home Farmer’s Market to examine the effects of a nutritional incentive voucher program on health outcomes in older patients with Type 2 diabetes and food insecurity.
