The Division of Infectious Diseases, under the direction of Dr. Cosmina Zeana, is a leader in the treatment and prevention of infectious diseases, including HIV/AIDS, drug-resistant bacteria, COVID-19, tuberculosis, hepatitis, influenza, and Legionella, as well as tropical diseases. The specialized inpatient program and the nationally recognized outpatient Center for Comprehensive Care, under the direction of Dr. Oladipo Alao, provide treatment for patients with HIV and other infectious diseases, in addition to educational services and continuing research.
A Center for Travel Medicine, under the direction of Dr. Paul Kelly, is also preparing patients and their families for safe and healthy international trips. It provides immunizations, preventive treatments, special medications, and consultations for all types of travel-related infectious diseases.
Availability of National Institute of Health funded clinical trials for patients and numerous other grant awards are further tributes to the efforts of Dr. Zeana and her team. The division is also the recipient of a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention grant for HIV care.
