The Division of Primary Care and Preventive Medicine, under the leadership of Dr. Abayomi Salako, is taking a pivotal role in delivering comprehensive patient-centered primary care. “We are a conduit for a health delivery system that is also providing care at the right time, and in the right place, to meet the needs of our patients,” stated Dr. Salako.
As part of its commitment to strengthen primary care, the department has focused its efforts on chronic disease management. In addition, the division is addressing health literacy issues, through a Community Health Worker initiative. Ambulatory Care education is also being provided to medical residents on a continuing basis, thereby helping to train the primary care workforce of the future.
