The Department of Family Medicine was founded in 1985 and has significantly expanded under the leadership of Dr. Douglas Reich, who became Chairman in 2006. Dr. Reich has implemented a wide range of services to enhance the department, as well as reinforce its strong Residency Program.

Innovative initiatives, such as the Community Health Worker (CHW) Program, as well as a major outreach effort at the Claremont Village Apartment Complex were implemented. In looking to the future, the Department of Family Medicine continues to move forward as a leader in the field, with an outstanding reputation for the medical and support services it provides.

“The poor health statistics in the South Bronx drive us to truly want to make a difference in each and every patient, family, and neighborhood with which we connect.”
