Return to sport, whether for a high school or collegiate athlete or a weekend warrior, is the focus of the sports medicine and surgery team. Dr. Deborah Allen, Chief of Sports Medicine, is joined by Dr. Karthikeyan Chinnakkannu in responding to the demanding goals of athletes. The department is also proud to be the official team physicians of Mt. Vernon Basketball, a perennial New York State Champion, as well as many of the alumni of this program who have moved on to college and professional careers. The team also cares for athletes from high schools in the Bronx.
