PGY4

Dr. Saif Bashir, Chief Resident

Dr. Saif Bashir is a graduate of the Medical University of the Americas. His career interests include Collaborative Care and Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry. Dr. Bashir’s interest in BronxCare evolved from its broad range of clinical experiences and commitment to serving a diverse community. Outside of medicine, Dr. Bashir is an automotive enthusiast. He also enjoys football and international travel, as well as exploring new cultures and cuisines.

Dr. Natasha Kasulis, Chief Resident

Dr. Natasha Kasulis is a graduate of St. George’s University in Grenada. Her career interests include Sports and Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry, as well as Cognitive Behavioral  Therapy, and Integrated Attachment Theory in Psychotherapy.  She chose BronxCare because of its reputation for delivering meaningful mental health care, along with a commitment to supporting patients in improving their quality of life. Outside of her work environment, Dr. Kasulis enjoys a capella singing, musical theater, writing poetry, and camping, as well as cooking, soccer, snowboarding, skiing, and watching hockey. 

Dr. Sikandar Saeed, Chief Resident

Dr. Sikandar Saeed is a graduate of the Shifa College of Medicine in Pakistan. His career interests include First Episode Psychosis and Personality Disorders. During the interview process, Dr. Saeed almost immediately had a sense of ease and familiarity when speaking with the residents and faculty. Outside of medicine, Dr. Saeed enjoys soccer, Formula-1 racing, photography, and gaming.

Dr. Matthew DiIorio

Dr. Matthew Dilorio is a graduate of the American University of the Caribbean in Sint Maarten. His career interests include Emergency Psychiatry and Psychotic Disorders. From his early interactions with BronxCare’s residents and staff, Dr. Dilorio observed and was impressed with the Psychiatry Program’s strong sense of teamwork and camaraderie. It provided him with the impression that he would be treated as a valued addition to the team. His outside interests include football, hockey, and soccer, along with traveling and playing video games.

Dr. Omar Alzein

Dr. Omar Alzein is a graduate of the  American University of the Caribbean. His career interests are in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. He chose BronxCare for its welcoming atmosphere, diverse residency program, and broad patient population. Dr. Alzein also  enjoys exploring and trying new foods, as well as spending time with friends. 

Dr. Arham Javaid

Dr. Arham Javaid is a graduate of Allama Iqbal Medical College in Pakistan. His professional interests include Clinical Psychology, Psycho-Oncology, and Global Mental Health. He chose BronxCare primarily because of its welcoming environment and supportive culture. His interview experience reinforced a strong sense of alignment with the program’s mission and community. In his free time, Dr. Javaid enjoys playing tennis and watching football, as well as video and board games. 

Dr. Tejasvi Kainth

Dr. Tejasvi Kainth is a graduate of Gian Sagar Medical College and Hospital in Punjab, India. Her career interests include Public and Geriatric Psychiatry, with a special interest in behavioral disturbances. Dr. Kainth chose BronxCare because of the strong sense of community she observed among residents and patients. Outside of work, Dr. Kainth enjoys exploring new recipes in the kitchen and spending quality time with loved ones.

Dr. Daanish Khorasani

Dr. Daanish Khorasani is a graduate of Charles University, 2nd Faculty of Medicine in Czechia. His professional interests include Behavioral Addiction, Psychotherapy, and Sports Psychiatry. Dr. Khorasani chose BronxCare after meeting faculty and residents. He also appreciated the programs commitment to tailoring each residents educational experience, along with their interests and goals. Outside of medicine, Dr. Khorasanis interests include boxing and mixed martial arts, as well as movies, video games, and social media content. 

Dr. Julia Lopez

Dr. Julia Lopez is a graduate of the Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra in the Dominican Republic. Her career interests include Outpatient Psychiatry, as well as Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Since her first BronxCare interview, Dr. Lopez had an immediate sense of belonging because of what she terms, “the program’s warmth among residents and staff.” In her spare time, Dr. Lopez enjoys photography, spending time with her daughter, and going to the beach, as well as following motorcycle sports and watching stand-up comedy. 

Dr. Zerimar Ramirez

Dr. Zerimar Ramirez is a graduate of St. George’s University in Grenada. Her career interests include Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, the treatment of Eating Disorders and Obesity, and Psychotherapy. Dr. Ramirez chose BronxCare because it provides comprehensive mental health care services to a large Hispanic community. She enjoys spending time with her cats, photography, and completing puzzles, as well as watching television and playing board games.

Dr. Aashraya Ramu

Dr. Aashraya Ramu is a graduate of Thanjavur Medical College in India. Her career interests include Outpatient Adult Psychiatry, Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry, and Women’s Mental Health. She chose BronxCare based on its family-oriented culture and resident-driven approach. Dr. Ramu was also drawn to the program’s strong emphasis on resident development, as it closely aligned with her professional goals. In her free time, Dr. Ramu enjoys spending time with family. She also has a passion for Indian classical dance, listening to music, and creating art.

Dr. Joffre Wong

Dr. Joffre Wong is a graduate of the Universidad Católica Santiago de Guayaquil, Ecuador. Dr. Wong plans to pursue Adult Psychiatry. He first joined BronxCare as an observer and was able to experience the program’s culture. Dr. Wong was also drawn to the diversity of BronxCare’s patient population and the challenges it presented, in addition to what he considered “a supportive and collaborative environment.” Outside of the medical field, Dr. Wong enjoys playing board games.

Dr. Thamer Aljader

Dr. Thamer Aljader is a graduate of Hashemite University in Jordan. His career interests include Adult, Addiction, and Forensic Psychiatry. Dr. Aljader chose BronxCare because of its welcoming environment, engaging atmosphere, and exceptional group of mentors and residents. In his spare time, he enjoys playing chess, as well as watching mixed martial arts, crime thrillers, and documentaries.

Dr. Rishika Gadde

Dr. Rishika Gadde is a graduate of Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College in India. Her career interests include Adult and Addiction Psychiatry. It was the welcoming community filled with what she considers “the values of diversity, collaboration, and mutual support” that was a driving force in her decision to further her career at BronxCare. It is a place where she could contribute meaningfully and become part of a mission-driven community. Outside of work, Dr. Gadde enjoys exercising in the gym, traveling, and playing board games, as well as watching television and hiking. 

Dr. Sofia Diana Galarza

Dr. Sofia Diana Galarza is a graduate of Pontificia Universidad Catolica del Ecuador. Her career interests include working in team-based settings and creating an impactful environment to support patients. She chose BronxCare for its diversity and strong reputation for hands-on comprehensive training. Outside of medicine, Dr. Galarza is an enthusiastic Formula One fan.

Dr. Narges Joshaghani

Dr. Narges Joshaghani is a graduate of Tehran University of Medical Sciences. Dr. Joshaghani originally came to BronxCare as a “House Physician” and was drawn by its welcoming atmosphere, supportive staff, and strong sense of community. Her outside interests include traveling, swimming, jogging, gardening, baking, and exploring new restaurants in New York.

Dr. Hussein Mreydem

Dr. Hussein Mreydem is a graduate of the Lebanese University Faculty of Medical Sciences in Lebanon. Dr. Mreydem chose BronxCare because of its commitment and record of accomplishments for the community. He enjoys traveling, exploring new cities and cooking, in addition to spending quality time with his wife and twin boys.

Dr. Bixby Ponteri

Dr. Bixby Ponteri is a graduate of St. George’s University in Grenada. His career interests include Addiction Psychiatry and Adult Inpatient Psychiatry. BronxCare sparked Dr. Ponteri’s interest, due to the program's strong emphasis on education, which inspired and supported his intellectual curiosity. Dr. Ponteri’s interests outside of medicine include participating in extreme sports, such as wakeboarding, skiing, mountain biking, surfing, and mixed martial arts. He also enjoys playing the drums, as well as video and board games.

Dr. Sakshi Prasad

Dr. Sakshi Prasad is a graduate of Vinnytsya National Pirogov Memorial Medical University in Ukraine. Her career interests include forensic psychiatry, with a focus on trauma, and the integration of research into clinical practice. BronxCare’s strong solidarity among its residents, as well as the program’s extensive exposure to severe and complex psychopathology, were among the key factors that interested Dr. Prasad. In addition, she considered the environment at BronxCare as being conducive for developing the essential skills to become a well-experienced psychiatrist. Outside of medicine, Dr. Prasad enjoys collecting miniatures, exploring restaurants, and immersing herself in different cultures, as well as discovering New York City and indulging in crime dramas, thrillers, documentaries, and books. 

Dr. Larissa Villacrés

Dr. Larissa Villacrés is a graduate of Universidad Espíritu Santo in Guayaquil, Ecuador. Her career interests include Adult and Community Psychiatry. Dr. Villacrés was drawn to BronxCare based on its mission of delivering accessible mental health care to a diverse community, which closely aligns with her personal values. In her free time, Dr. Villacrés enjoys traveling, learning new languages, exploring vegetarian restaurants, and playing the piano.

Dr. Riley Hartnett

Dr. Riley Hartnett is a graduate of St. George’s University. Her career interests include emergency psychiatry, substance use, and ethics. BronxCare had a pivotal role in her decision to pursue psychiatry. During her time as a medical student at BronxCare, Dr. Hartnett had the opportunity to work closely with attending physicians that influenced and nurtured her interest in psychiatry. In her spare time, Dr. Hartnett enjoys hiking, exploring restaurants throughout New York City, traveling, attending live music events, and spending quality time with friends. 

Dr. Rekha Jhasti

Dr. Rekha Jhasti is a graduate of the Dr. PSIMS Medical College in India. She chose BronxCare because it offered an important opportunity to practice psychiatry and serve a diverse community with complex challenges. Dr. Jhasti’s career interest is to specialize in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. She also continues to follow her philosophy of “keep moving forward,” carrying that spirit into the workplace and lifestyle. Outside of medicine, Dr. Jhansi enjoys reading fiction novels, practicing yoga, and writing. 

Dr. Noah Kathe

Dr. Noah Kathe is a graduate of Eastern Virginia Medical School. His career interests include Consultation-Liaison and Inpatient Psychiatry. Dr. Kathe’s decision to join BronxCare for his residency was based on the opportunity to serve a diverse population, in addition to the psychiatry program’s broad range of elective rotations. He also enjoys spending time with loved ones, traveling, art, and scuba diving, as well as exploring new restaurants in New York City.

Dr. Nishant Prabhakaran

Dr. Nishant Prabhakaran is a graduate of  All India Institute of Medical Sciences in India. His career interests include Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Forensic Psychiatry, and Addiction Medicine. The Psychiatry Program’s complex and diverse patient population, along with opportunities for connection, were among the key factors that interested Dr. Prabhakaran in the program. Equally important, Dr. Prabhakarn is passionate about the continuing learning experience the Psychiatry Residency provides. In his free time, Dr. Prabhakaran enjoys listening to music, playing the guitar, and watching soccer, as well as watching movies and TV shows, including soap operas. 

Dr. Huda Rges

Dr. Huda Rges is a graduate of the University of Benghazi Faculty of Medicine. She is especially interested in Clinical and Forensic Psychiatry. Dr. Rges chose BronxCare because of its supportive and growth-oriented environment. Her outside interests include membership in a book club, as well as outdoor activities, such as diving, snorkeling, and spending time near the ocean.

Dr. Daniel Ernesto Carvallo Ruiz

Dr. Daniel Ernesto Carvallo Ruiz is a graduate of the Universidad Central de Venezuela. Dr. Ruiz was interested in a residency program committed to providing individualized mental health care throughout underserved communities, while also offering academic support and comprehensive training. BronxCare exceeded these expectations and distinguished itself to him as “the ideal environment for professional growth.” Outside of the medical profession, Dr. Ruiz enjoys watching films and engaging in all aspects of filmmaking. 

Dr. Irshan Shaik

Dr. Irshan Shaik is a graduate of the Deccan College of Medical Sciences in India. He chose BronxCare because of its strong and supportive leadership team, as well as for the opportunity to make a difference in addressing challenges presented by an urban inner-city community. In his free time, Dr. Shaik enjoys exploring New York City by taking long walks, checking out new restaurants, listening to music, and finding new spots in nature.

Dr. Ravleen Suri

Dr. Ravleen Suri is a graduate of D.Y. Patil University, School of Medicine in India. He chose BronxCare because of its excellent reputation in psychiatry and other specialty areas. His goal is to pursue a career in general or forensic psychiatry, either in practice or in a hospital similar to BronxCare. Dr. Suri’s outside interests include yoga, theater, art, cooking, and content creation.

Dr. Jose Zimmerman

Dr. Zimmerman is a graduate of the Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra in Dominican Republic. He was inspired to select BronxCare because of the resilience of its community and steady commitment to delivering comprehensive patient care. Dr. Zimmerman plans to pursue a specialty in Addiction Medicine to help individuals recover, rebuild, and regain hope. Outside of the workplace, Dr. Zimmerman enjoys spending time with friends, watching films, sightseeing, and bringing positive energy to the workplace, his patients, and the community.
