Programs

Our department offers advanced fellowship opportunities designed to cultivate clinical and academic excellence in several psychiatry subspecialties. Fellowships are available in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Addiction Psychiatry, and Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry. Each fellowship provides robust clinical training, interdisciplinary teamwork, and opportunities for research and academic growth, all within a vibrant and diverse urban setting. Fellows benefit from comprehensive mentorship while working with faculty experts and patient populations. This type of environment prepares them for leadership and specialized practice.

Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship
BronxCare’s Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship Program is an all-encompassing two-year program where the primary goal is to train competent and ethical psychiatrists skilled in delivering comprehensive psychiatric care. Our program provides advanced training in understanding the complex emotional, behavioral, and developmental needs of young patients. Fellows also develop clinical acumen in emergency, inpatient, and outpatient community settings, working closely with families, schools, and multidisciplinary teams to broaden their knowledge of child development and systems of care. The program emphasizes evidence-based interventions, early identification, and culturally sensitive care, preparing graduates to meet the growing demand for child mental health specialists.

Addiction Psychiatry Fellowship
BronxCare’s Addiction Psychiatry Fellowship provides clinicians with the knowledge and skills to treat patients with substance use disorders and co-occurring psychiatric conditions. Fellows train at BronxCare’s Life Recovery Center’s detox and rehab units. Exposure to the latest evidence-based pharmacologic and psychotherapeutic treatments is also provided.

The program emphasizes compassionate, patient-centered care, interprofessional collaboration, and a strong foundation in recovery-oriented practices. Fellows receive experience in managing the complex challenges of addiction, and the severe psychiatric and medical co-morbidities of a diverse population.

Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry Fellowship
The Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry Fellowship offers specialized training at the intersection of mental and physical health. Fellows gain an expertise in diagnosing and managing psychiatric conditions in patients with complex medical illnesses across hospital and healthcare settings. Through close collaboration with medical and surgical teams, fellows learn to provide comprehensive psychiatric care, improve patient outcomes, educate primary medical teams, and integrate mental health into holistic treatment planning.
