Medical Students

Training the Next Generation of Psychiatrists

Our program is proud to serve as a teaching site for medical students from around the world, with a strong partnership network that includes leading Caribbean Medical schools such as St. George’s University, American University of the Caribbean, Ross University School of Medicine, and American University of Antigua. By offering hands-on clinical rotations in diverse psychiatric settings, we provide students with meaningful orientation to child and adolescent psychiatry, consultation-liaison psychiatry, addiction psychiatry, and general adult psychiatry.

Our faculty takes pride in fostering a supportive learning environment where students develop strong clinical skills, cultural humility, and a deeper appreciation for the human side of medicine. Our medical students also benefit from one-on-one time with faculty members and residents, attend clinical activities to gain patient management experience, and participate in didactics tailored to their clerkship learning objectives. Many of our rotating students leave the training site with a deepened appreciation for the field of psychiatry, an enhanced capacity for providing compassionate and culturally sensitive care, and strengthened clinical skills. It is noteworthy that BronxCare’s medical students often continue their training in our residency and fellowship programs, carrying forward the spirit of collaboration and a shared commitment to advancing mental health care.
