BronxCare Health System

Research at BronxCare Psychiatry

Research is a vital part of our training program, offering residents the opportunity to explore innovative ideas impacting the patients and communities we serve. At BronxCare, we foster a culture of inquiry supported by dedicated faculty mentors who guide residents through the research process, from conceptualization to presentation and publication.

It is noteworthy that our residents present their research papers at the American Psychiatric Association, European Psychiatric Association, American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, and the Academy of Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry, among numerous other National Associations and Universities. Many projects are community-focused, ranging from quality improvement initiatives to research addressing health disparities.

Residents also obtain hands-on orientation to emerging treatments through our Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) machine for neuromodulation, as well as participate in projects supported by research grants, such as Zero Suicide, and engage with our dedicated research lab.

Our goal is to empower residents to contribute to psychiatry’s scientific knowledge base, and develop into clinician-scholars that harness research to improve patient care, advance the field, and advocate effectively for the needs of the communities served by them.
