Choosing BronxCare means joining a program rooted in service, diversity, and resilience. Located in the heart of the Bronx, our residency offers unparalleled exposure to a wide spectrum of psychiatric conditions. The Bronx is a community shaped by its immigrant heritage, artistic movements, Fordham University, Lehman College, the Botanical Gardens and Bronx Zoo, Arthur Avenue Italian Restaurant District, and the New York Yankees, among numerous other attractions.
At BronxCare, our residents work with a range of patients from many different ethnic and sociocultural backgrounds. During your time at BronxCare, you treat the symptoms and also learn to understand the broader context of patients’ lives, including the challenges of poverty, housing insecurity, immigration, addiction, and trauma. Under the mentorship of dedicated faculty, residents gain the skills to deliver compassionate, culturally informed, and evidence-based mental health care.
We seek residents who are curious and resilient individuals motivated to hone their clinical expertise while also embracing advocacy and service. Ideal candidates are team players who thrive in adapting to diverse clinical environments, and see psychiatry as a healing profession and calling to make a lasting impact in the lives of patients and communities.
Training at BronxCare prepares you to become an excellent psychiatrist and physician-leader. By the completion of our four-year training program, residents will be well equipped to practice and fulfill their career goals.
