Dr. Ioannis Alagkiozidis is Chief of Gynecologic Oncology and minimally invasive gynecologic surgery.
He completed residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Texas in Houston and fellowship training in Gynecologic Oncology in SUNY-Downstate/Kings County Hospital. Dr. Alagkiozidis has extensive training in minimally invasive (robotic and laparoscopic) surgery, open surgery for advanced gynecologic malignancies and chemotherapy.
Robotic surgical procedures performed by Dr. Alagkiozidis include simple and radical hysterectomy, pelvic and paraaortic lymphadenectomy, resection of pelvic mass. In addition, Dr. Alagkiozidis’ areas of specialty include women requiring complex procedures for benign gynecologic problems such as advanced endometriosis, large fibroids, history of multiple laparotomies, as well as women with placenta accreta.
Dr. Alagkiozidis is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) Honor Society, the Society of Gynecologic Oncology, and a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. He has won numerous teaching and research awards and has authored multiple articles and book chapters.
