BronxCare Health System’s Department of Family Medicine offers one of the most comprehensive Family Medicine Residency Programs in the nation. It is comprised of 16 residents per year in addition to a Transitional Year Program with five residents. Residents receive the highest quality of education and experience by rotating through the Department of Family Medicine Outpatient Practices, and Inpatient Service, under the guidance and mentorship of more than 30 Attending Physicians.

The Family Medicine Residency Program is dedicated to cultivating competent and compassionate family medicine physicians. It is committed to establishing a foundation where residents will learn how to navigate the constantly changing health care environment and become advocates for patients and their families.

The Family Medicine Residency Program prepares physicians for community-based primary care by integrating their efforts within the South Bronx community. By graduation, residents become health care advocates for the family unit and, most importantly, capable of exercising clear judgment, critical research, and exceptional case management for their patients.
