Alexis Abernathy

Alexis Abernathy, OD

Ocular Disease/Primary Care Optometry Resident

Dr. Abernathy was born and raised in Saint Louis, Missouri. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology with honors from the University of Missouri–St. Louis. She then received her Doctor of Optometry degree with honors from the Illinois College of Optometry. During her time at the Illinois College of Optometry, Dr. Abernathy served as President of the Black Student Union, President of the Gold Key Honor Society, and Vice President of the National Optometric Student Association. She is passionate about improving diversity, equity, and inclusion in healthcare. Dr. Abernathy completed her clinical training at Heitmeier Eyecare, The Illinois Eye Institute, Miami Gardens Eyecare, and Kansas City Children’s Mercy Hospital. She enjoys traveling, attending concerts, and yoga in her spare time.

Veena Bokka

Veena Bokka, OD

Ocular Disease/Primary Care Optometry Resident

Dr. Bokka grew up in Piscataway, New Jersey. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Cellular Biology and Neuroscience from Rutgers University. Dr. Bokka then earned her Doctor of Optometry degree from the State University of New York (SUNY) College of Optometry. During her time at SUNY Optometry, Dr. Bokka served on the executive boards of the Lions Club and the National Optometric Student Association. She also received awards for diversity, equity and inclusion, and excellence in pediatrics. Dr. Bokka completed her clinical training at the University Eye Center, Eye and Sight Center, and the Brooklyn Veterans Affairs Medical Center. In her free time, Dr. Bokka enjoys cooking and leisure reading.

Nand Shah

Nand Shah, OD

Ocular Disease/Primary Care Optometry Resident

Dr. Shah was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio. He graduated from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nutritional Science. Subsequently, Dr. Shah earned his Doctor of Optometry degree from the State University of New York (SUNY) College of Optometry. Dr. Shah completed his clinical training at New York Ophthalmology, the Brooklyn Veterans Affairs Medical Center, and Customized Vision Care. In 2022, Dr. Shah received an Advanced Certificate in Optometric Business Management and is currently pursuing a Masters of Business Administration in Healthcare Leadership at SUNY Empire State College. Outside of his professional commitments, Dr. Shah enjoys going on runs, watching sports, exploring diverse restaurants in New York City, and spending time with his family and friends.

Jacob Rosenberg

Jacob Rosenberg, OD

Pediatric Optometry/Ocular Disease Optometry Resident

Dr. Rosenberg received his Doctor of Optometry degree with a micro-credential in low vision and ocular disease from the State University of New York (SUNY) College of Optometry. While at SUNY College of Optometry, Dr. Rosenberg was a member of the Beta Sigma Kappa Optometric Honor Society and served as President for the New York State Student Optometric Association. He completed his clinical externships at Compton Eye Associates, Woodhull Medical Center, and the University Eye Center. Dr. Rosenberg’s special interests within the field of optometry include pediatrics, specialty contact lenses, and low vision. Outside of work, he enjoys exploring New York City and cooking.

Alexandria Cloud, O.D.

Alexandria Cloud, OD

Ocular Disease/Primary Care Optometry Resident

Dr. Cloud was raised in Pueblo West, Colorado. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry (Biochemistry) from the University of Portland in Portland, Oregon. She received her Doctor of Optometry degree with honors in May 2022 from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee. She also received clinical training at the Community Health Centers of the Central Coast in California and Eyesight Ophthalmic Services in New Hampshire. Dr. Cloud is passionate about providing quality eye care in all settings and enjoys doing puzzles, being outdoors, and finding adventure in her free time.

Jeannette Lam, O.D.

Jeannette Lam, OD

Dr. Lam was born and raised in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. She graduated from the University of Waterloo with a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences. She then attended the New England College of Optometry in Boston, Massachusetts, where she earned her Doctor of Optometry degree. Dr. Lam completed her clinical training at Veterans Affairs Lowell Health Care System, New England College of Optometry Special Populations, Boston University Eye Associates, and Dimock Community Health Center.

Siyun Ren, O.D.

Siyun Ren, OD

Ocular Disease/Primary Care Optometry Resident

Dr. Ren was raised in Cary, North Carolina. She attended Rice University and graduated with a degree in Biochemistry and Cell Biology. Dr. Ren earned her Doctorate of Optometry at the State of New York College of Optometry. During her time there, she served as the President of the student branch of the American Academy of Optometry, and she received recognition for her research in orthokeratology and myopia control. Dr. Ren completed her clinical training at East New York Hospital, Eye Care Unlimited, Pisacano Eye, and NYU Langone Health. In her free time, Dr. Ren enjoys playing volleyball and running a small photography business.

Mandip Chahil

Mandip Chahil, OD

Pediatric Optometry/Ocular Disease Resident

Dr. Chahil was born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta. She attended the University of Alberta, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a minor in Chemistry. She then graduated from the New England College of Optometry in Boston, Massachusetts after completing her clinical training at Veterans Affairs Lowell Health Care System, Low Vision at Veterans Affairs New Haven Health Care System, Dimock Community Health Center, and New England College of Optometry Special Populations.

Levi Smith

Levi Smith, OD

Ocular Disease/Primary Care Optometry Resident

Dr. Smith was raised in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He attended the University of Sioux Falls, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. He earned his Doctorate of Optometry from the Rosenberg School of Optometry at the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio, Texas, graduating cum laude in May 2021. Dr. Smith completed clinical training at the Bowden Eye Center in San Antonio, Texas, Rochester Family Eye Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, and the Eye Center of Texas in Houston, Texas. He is an active member of Fellowship of Christian Optometrists.

Ken Uehara

Kent Uehara, OD

Ocular Disease/Primary Care Optometry Resident

Dr. Uehara was born and raised in Southern California. He completed his undergraduate studies in molecular biology at the University of California, Berkeley. He then earned his Doctorate of Optometry at State University of New York, College of Optometry, graduating with honors and as Vice President of the Gold Key International Optometric Honor Society. His clinical training included rotations through SUNY's Cornea and Contact Lens specialty practice, Gouverneur Health, EyeCare Unlimited, and Pisacano Eye Surgery. As a student, Dr. Uehara was involved in the Student Glaucoma Society, Contact Lens Education and Research Club, and the New York Vision Walk. Outside of work, Dr. Uehara enjoys eating and cooking, video games, hiking, and movies. He is an avid fan of the Los Angeles Dodgers and Las Vegas Golden Knights.

Keying Yan

Keying (Chloe) Yan, OD, MS

Dr. Yan was born and raised in Changsha, China. She attended the University of Colorado Boulder, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology. Dr. Yan continued her education at the SUNY College of Optometry where she obtained her Doctorate of Optometry and Master in Vision Science. Dr. Yan also completed her clinical training at Eyecare Professionals, Gouverneur NYC Health + Hospital, and Eye Care Unlimited. She was also a member of Beta Sigma Kappa Club and recipient of the Josh Wallman, PhD Memorial Research Award.

Dr. Fung was born in White Plains, New York and raised in Randolph, New Jersey. She attended Ithaca College for her undergraduate studies where she graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a minor in Mathematics. She obtained her Doctorate of Optometry from the State University of New York College of Optometry where she graduated with Honors. She completed her clinical training at NYU Ophthalmology Associates, Community Healthcare Network Mobile Eye Clinic, Woodhull Medical Hospital, and Ezra Medical Center. She was an active member of Student Volunteers in Optometric Service to Humanity through which she traveled to Grenada to provide eye care to the under-served community.

Luqian (Lucy) Liu, OD

Luqian (Lucy) Liu, OD

Dr. Liu was born in Xiamen, China and raised in Princeton Junction, New Jersey. She attended The College of New Jersey where she majored in Biology. Dr. Liu continued her education at the SUNY College of Optometry where she obtained her Doctorate of Optometry in May 2020. Her clinical training was completed at East New York Diagnostic & Treatment Center, NYU Student Health Center, and Woodhull Medical and Mental Health Center. Dr. Liu has been on an international humanitarian mission trip to Mexico with Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity.

Dr. Mai was born and raised in Alexandria, Virginia. She attended the University of Virginia for her undergraduate studies where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Biology. She continued her education at the SUNY College of Optometry where she obtained her Doctorate of Optometry in May 2020. She completed her clinical training at Eye Care Unlimited, Gouverneur NYC Health + Hospitals, and The Southern Arizona VA Health Care System. She was involved in the New York State Optometric Association Student chapter and Student Volunteers in Optometric Service to Humanity through which she traveled to Panama on a humanitarian vision trip.

Asha Tadepalli, OD

Dr. Tadepalli emigrated from Andhra Pradesh, India and was raised in Moline, Illinois. She attended the University of Illinois at Chicago where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and participated in research at the Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary. She continued her education at the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences and graduated in May 2020 with her Doctorate of Optometry. She completed her clinical training at Atlantic Family Eye Care in Woonsocket, RI, Fitchburg Community Health Center in Fitchburg, MA, and the VA Illiana HealthCare System in Danville, IL.

Dr. Bass was born and raised in Miami, FL. She attended Florida State University where she graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Science and a minor in Environmental Science. She then graduated as salutatorian from the New England College of Optometry in Boston, MA after completing clinical training at Veterans Affairs Hudson Valley Health Care System, Open Cities Health Center in St. Paul, MN, Eye Centers of South Florida, and Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Corporation in Bethel, AK. She was an active member of the Public Health Club and conducted research regarding eye care for the homeless population of Boston.
