Keeping Patients Moving in the Right Direction

BronxCare’s Department of Orthopaedics treats more than 50,000 patients and performs 2,000 operations annually. Dr. Ira Kirschenbaum, Chairman, Orthopaedics, has focused his efforts on the development of systems that produce quality and patient satisfaction, while maximizing access.

Dr. Kirschenbaum attributes the Orthopaedic Department's success to the distinguished staff of surgeons that were recruited, as well as its administrative staff led by Michael Coburn, Practice Administrator. This team offers the most advanced and safest treatments to patients with bone and joint problems, including hip, knee, and shoulder replacements; spine, hand, and foot surgery; sports medicine; and trauma care, among other specialties. Dr. Kirschenbaum is also moving forward with a Community Outreach Program where the Orthopaedic physicians provide specialty services at offices in the Bronx and Northern Manhattan.

Dr. Ira Kirschenbaum is into his second decade of developing and maturing the Department of Orthopaedics by consistently ensuring access and quality for all patients. The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, under his leadership, has become a high-level clinical asset to the patient community of the Bronx. Its surgeons and non-surgeons have excellent national and regional reputations. The department offers state-of-the-art treatment in every subspecialty in orthopedic surgery.

“Whether in the use of advanced surgical techniques or simply an office visit, the Orthopaedics team is always there for our patients and the community.”
