    Dr. Abayomi Salako, Chief, Division of Primary Care and Preventive Medicine is taking on an important medical leadership role of the BronxCare Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Health Center. He was actively involved in implementing a Diaspora initiative, which is responding to the health care needs of the growing West African population in the Bronx.

    Dr. Salako is also an Attending Physician in Adult Medicine at BronxCare, with responsibilities for four other major practices within the BronxCare network. These include its Ambulatory Care Network and Tiffany Medical and Pediatric Practices, as well as the Third Avenue and Poe Medical and Dental Practices. Dr. Salako provides primary care to individual patients as well as treats chronic medical diseases, including diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, asthma and acute medical illnesses.

    In terms of his educational background, Dr. Salako attended medical school at the University Ibadan in Nigeria. He completed his residency at BronxCare and subsequently became an Attending Physician. Dr. Salako is certified by Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
